Plori, located in Carle Place at 307 Old Country Road, held its grand opening in late December 2022, serving up a wide selection of lunch and dinner options inspired by the traditions of Greek fishing villages.

“The people wait on the shore for the fishing boats to return. When they see the front of the boat—the plori—they know the daily catch is coming,” reads the restaurant’s Facebook page. “We want to take you to that little Greek village.”

And Plori’s menu has no shortage of fresh fish offerings, which include Lavraki, Red Snapper, Black Sea Bass, Tsipoura, and Barbounia, all char-grilled and served off the bone.

Other seafood options include the Yiouvetsi Thalassinon, made with sauteed calamari, mussels, scallop, shrimp, white wine, aromatic cretan raki, and orzo.

There’s also the Garides Scharas, made with open flame grilled jumbo prawns, latholemono, and spanakorizo, a traditional Greek rice and spinach dish.

Diners can also choose from an array of Greek-inspired appetizers like the Tonos Tartar, with sushi grade tuna, green apple, toasted pine nuts, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and carp roe caviar.

After just a few weeks in business, customers seem pleased with Plori, which has garnered several glowing reviews online.

“This restaurant is absolutely beautiful! The food was delicious (authentic Greek food) and the staff was friendly and on top of it. It's a must check out!!!” Lisa Cres-Gas wrote on Facebook.

Panagiotis Mastoros, of Massapequa Park, was equally impressed, writing on Facebook: “Food was fresh and tasty. Service/staff was amazing. Excellent Greek food!!!”

Plori is open Monday through Friday from noon to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Find out more on its website
